WHAT IS THE ORDER OF THE KNIGHT OF RIZAL?
Purpose and Objectives
Knowing the objectives of the Order provides a sense of direction for every member. Ad mission to the Order is not merely a ceremonial rite. It implies duties and responsibilities.
Activities
The Order of the Knights of Rizal as a civic and patriotic organization has demonstrated a phenomenal growth not only in membership but also in activities since it was founded November 16, 1916.
Global Chapters
Since its founding, the Order has grown to more than 25,000 members belonging to 131 active chapters in the Philippines and 61 active chapters around the world. Its international headquarters is located on Bonifacio Drive in Port Area, Manila.
Objectives of the Knights of Rizal
To study the teachings of Dr. Jose Rizal
Rizal’s examples on idealism, charity and surrender are inspiring. Events showing his love for country and people and dedication to duty are worth-while imitating. Instances in which he displayed courage, will-power, leadership and self-abnegation are admirable.
To inculcate and propagate them in and among all classes of the Filipino people
Spread the ideals, teachings and exemplary life of Dr. Rizal especially to the youth of the land; and to train and develop the Filipino youth in character building citizenship training, democratic leadership, enlightened nationalism and dedicated service to country and people.
To promote among the associated knights the spirit of patriotism and Rizalian chivalry
It is hoped that teaching Rizal’s life, shall strengthen nationalism, patriotism, national identity, love of humanity, respect for human rights and appreciation of the role of national heroes in the historical development of the country.
To develop a perfect union among the Filipinos in revering the memory of Dr. Jose Rizal
“The greatest honor that a son can pay to his parents is integrity and a good man.” Integrity is uprightness or a state of being of sound moral principle. Rizal’s honesty was the result of his constant love and search for the truth, He possessed I to a high degree of excellence which everyone of us should imitate.
To organize and hold programs commemorative of Rizal’s and martyrdom
The Order of the Knights of Rizal organize chapters in all provinces and to undertake such programs of activities which will promote individual commitment to the ideals of Rizal and encourage personal involvement in the contemporary problems of the nation.
